How to Unsubscribe from Meetup Emails
I’m a big fan of Meetup. I usually go their site at least one time per week to find any new meetup events in San Francisco, plus whenever I plan on traveling somewhere, I often check Meetup to see if there might be an online marketing or startup event in the area.
Alas, I almost didn’t become the fan I am today, as when I first joined, I subsequently received about 50 emails from the various groups I had just joined. I then had no easy way to unsubscribe from select meetup mailing lists, so I just started ignoring every email and not using Meetup at all.
I then put my networking hat back on, and figured out how to unsubscribe from select Meetup communications. This took way more investigation than should be expected of me in my opinion, so I’m now sharing how I unsubscribed from messages from all of my Meetup groups:
- Step One: Go to your Meetup Group URL. For example: http://www.meetup.com/SEMPOSanFrancisco
- Step Two: In the top nav bar, hover over ‘Members’ and select ‘My Profile”
- Step Three: Under your name, select ‘Edit Communication Settings’
- Step Four: Select/Unselect as many communication settings as needed
- Step Five: Repeat for all of your Meetup Groups
Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to select which messages to subscribe to or unsubscribe from, all at once. If you follow the steps above for each of your Meetup groups, you’re Inbox will thank you.
